One of my favourite events of the year is Peterborough’s Reframe Film Festival. The 2023 version is occurring between January 26-February 3. I preview this in my discussion with Festival Director, Kait Dueck. Virtual passes are available now on reframefilmfestival.ca Stand alone tickets will be available soon. Reframe is a celebration of documentary film and media art, with a lense on social and environmental justice. Local, national and international films are shown. We discuss among other things: her ten plus years at Showplace and how that has helped at Reframe, the opening night plans for January 26th for Reframe, her past education in envirnomental, ecology and gender studies and how that helps her at Reframe, her love of nature, what art means through a “justice-based lens”, her love of birds, her long career in acting(four seasons at 4thLine among other experiences), what Reframe looks to for financial support-if you are wishing to support the Festival, go to https://reframefilmfestival.ca/support/donate/- and Laura Poitras’s film that will be shown on opening night. Musical selections: “Spirit To Soar” by Ansley Simpson and “Gay Bar” Evangeline Gentle.
